Teen Leadership DV: This program aims to educate people about domestic violence, which encompasses a range of abusive behaviors, including physical assault, battery, sexual assault, willful intimidation, and other forms of control perpetrated by one partner against another. Participants will have the opportunity to visit shelters and engage in dialogue with survivors of domestic violence and their children.
Teen Leadership Resiliency: Participants of the program will engage in a process of dialogue, exchange ideas, and learn how to adapt well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or any other significant sources of stress such as family or relationship problems, or severe health issues. Additionally, community advocates will share their stories of resilience to inspire and motivate participants.
Teen Leadership Role Model: It can be difficult for young African Americans to find suitable role models due to their challenges in American society. Research has shown that having a role model has a positive impact on the mental health of African American teenagers by reducing aggressive behavior, anxiety, and depression. In our discussion, we will focus on the significance of role models in our lives, how they influence our development, and who the most appropriate role models are.
Teen Leadership Conflict Management: Conflict can arise for various reasons, such as unmet needs, disagreements, or a lack of knowledge. This discussion will delve into how individuals respond to conflict and explore effective resolution methods.
Teen Leadership Family Economic Success: There's a significant correlation between employment, finances, and health in maintaining a family's well-being. When a family is doing well in all three areas, they can thrive in their communities. In this context, we'll explore the impact of a family's financial situation.
Good Judgement and Decision Making: The process of decision-making involves making choices, especially important ones. In this discussion, we will explore strategies to make sound decisions, which is a crucial skill for leaders in various settings.
Attitude - Beliefs - Values / Internal and External Factors: Our attitudes, beliefs, and values are shaped by internal and external factors, influencing how we interact with the world and people around us.
Socioeconomic Status: Socioeconomic status measures a person's economic and social position concerning others based on factors such as income, education, and occupation. It provides insight into access to resources and reveals inequalities in privilege, power, and control. By examining socioeconomic status, individuals can better understand economic and social inequality issues.
