Intern With Us

BSW/MSW Social Work, Doctoral Occupational Therapist, and Community, Administration, and Policy Practice (CAP) Interns

Our Social Work and Community, Administrative, and Policy Practice (CAP) interns, including Associates, Bachelor, and Master's levels, can work in mezzo, micro, and macro settings. Community outreach, case management, and program leadership and development are some opportunities available to our social work and CAP interns. All interns are required to participate in weekly supervision.


  • Community, Administration, and Policy Practice (CAP): This type of internship allows students to experience working with multiple departments through a micro and mezzo lens. Students can do clinical work besides organization, program development, and execution. 


Mezzo - All interns will experience direct Practice of social work focusing on interventions on behalf of program participants. They will collaborate with community groups and partner organizations that share our mission and social services. Direct Practice in the role of mezzo social work may include but is not limited to Administration, counseling, facilitating mediation, and program development; all interns are prepared to plan curriculum and facilitate groups with participants concerning anger management and domestic violence sessions.


Macro - All Interns will work with systems in social work practice that focus on intervention in collaboration with communities and societies in which social workers and social work practitioners play multiple roles. Macro social work practitioners include community development, community organizer, policy analyst, researcher, social planner, etc. Also, macro social practitioners are provided opportunities to participate in fundraisers, grant writing, reporting to funders,  research, advocacy, program evaluation, planning, and more.


Micro -  All interns will experience the direct Practice of micro-skill development in social work, focusing on improving the personal experiences of program participants through one-on-one and group counseling. Each intern will be responsible for a caseload to provide advocacy to individuals and families in need of anger management, domestic violence counseling or therapeutic conversions (existential therapy based) (self-determination approach), material assistance for children, adults, and those with disabilities or experiencing emergency displacements such as house fires and a lack of food.

College and University affiliation: Texas A & M University-Commerce, University of St. Augustine, Western New Mexico University, Prairie View A & M University, University of Texas at Arlington,  Texas College (Tyler, Texas), University of  North Texas -Dallas.
